Sustainability
Until the mid 2000s, sustainability was of limited interest to most
construction product suppliers. Many felt it could be addressed
by re-inventing product marketing to contain the necessary
'buzz-words'.
Not any more! Construction clients, design teams and
contractors must now incorporate sustainability legislation into all
construction development.
This has major implications for the construction products
industry. Product manufacturers who fail to deliver authentic
sustainability solutions will be excluded from preferred supplier
lists.
Bespoke Development
We offer a training and strategy development programme to help suppliers
understand and meet current and developing sustainability
standards. This can be customised to individual company
requirements.

Innovations Events
Innovative product development is key to helping clients and their
design and construction teams deliver sustainability.
We have held briefing meetings for design and construction teams
with manufacturers on specific sectors where sustainability is a major
factor:
- NHS LIFT Primary Care Premises - December 2008
- Building Schools for the Future - March & September 2009
& April 2010
- Social Housing and the Code for Sustainable Homes, Levels 3
& 4 - July 2009
- Private & Social Housebuilders, CFSH and Parts L, F & J
- February 2010
- Public Healthcare & Education (post BSF) - October 2010
Building Information Modelling (BIM)
Our December 2010 Construction Market Briefing included a session
on Building Information Modelling, a highly innovative 3D computer
model for the design, construction, operation and eventual demolition
of a building. Sustainable design and Green BIM form a major
element of the programme.
In September 2010, Paul Morrell - the Government's Chief
Construction Adviser - indicated that bidders and contractors on
future public building projects would be asked to use BIM.
In February 2011, we will hold two half-day presentations on BIM
for product manufacturers. Sustainable design and how BIM can be
used to develop sustainable buildings will be an important topic.
